Jizo is made from local wood, Jempinis wood. Part of the base of this statue is made of Parasite wood. Parasite wood is a very unique type of wood.

Parasite wood forms naturally as a defense mechanism by a host tree overgrown by a parasite. This defense grows into unique wood called parasite wood. Back then, this wood was only used as firewood, but our skilled artists create beautiful art from it.
